Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Branch Mission
Alberta Transportation contributes to Alberta's economy prosperity and quality of life through the provision of necessary, effective and safe infrastructure for all Albertans.Commercial Vehicle Enforcement is responsible for ensuring commercial vehicle compliance with provincial and federal statutes while promoting safety for all highway users, and the development and application of enforcement standards and enforcement policies for motor carriers while overseeing Transport Offiicers throughout the province.
Commercial Vehicle Enforcement monitors commercial vehicle weights with static, certified, and portable scales, and monitor commercial vehicle mechanical fitness by conducting on-road inspections.
Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Branch defines its core business values as:

Transport officers with Commercial Vehicle Enforcement are appointed as Peace Officers and enforce various Provincial and Federal Acts and Regulations. They also ensure compliance with National Safety Code requirements and Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance standards through the operation of permanent and portable weigh scales and mobile patrols within a designated geographical location. Transport officers provide this vital service on a 365-day per year, 24-hour per day basis and you work various shifts to accomplish this.
